Drappier Grande Sendrée 2015

Grande Sendrée 2015 is one of Drappier's great vintage cuvées. Its name comes from a plot in Urville that was covered in ash after a fire in 1836; a clerical error when transcribing the land registry later transformed "cendrée" into "sendrée," and the name stuck.

The 2015 vintage yields an intense, vinous, and generous champagne, with the depth of Pinot Noir and the chalky tension characteristic of Urville. The bottle itself reproduces an 18th-century flask discovered in the house's cellars, and each bottle is riddled by hand. A cuvée of terroir, time, and memory.
